Environmental problems with coffee capsules

Coffee capsules, which are convenient but environmentally problematic, pose a number of ecological challenges:

  1. Durable waste: Made up of plastic and aluminium, many capsules are not recycled due to the need for proper cleaning and separation.
  2. Intense consumption of resources: The production of the capsules requires large amounts of water and energy.
  3. Carbon emissions: From manufacturing to transport, capsules contribute significantly to greenhouse gas emissions.
  4. Impact on Biodiversity: The demand for coffee can encourage agricultural practices that are harmful to biodiversity.
  5. Disposable culture: The frequent use of capsules encourages excessive consumption and waste.

Capsules are not the cheapest option

According to Deco Proteste, original coffee capsules guarantee compatibility and ease of use with the machines by simply inserting them and starting the preparation. However, compatible capsules require more attention when being inserted to avoid problems. Although capsule machines are accessible and practical, the price per cup is generally higher, between 36 and 42 cents, compared to coffee beans or ground coffee.

From the plant to your cup. Less impact on the planet, more economic stability.
